My Sweethearts’ Nite Plan vs. What Actually Happened
(From a Walt Disney World Girl Who Just Wanted One More Hour)
Sweethearts’ Nite is not a night to wing it. Here’s exactly how I planned it — and what actually happened.
The Sweethearts’ Nite Plan I Walked In With
Before the event started, this was my strategy:
First thing first. I search the internet (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) for information from current and prior year Sweethearts’ Nite.
Then, I write/print my game plans. As the chief Disney app navigator in my party, it has been easier for me to have a paper copy of my plan and navigate the app. This is probably the Type-A millennial coming out. But, it works for me.

My Top Priorities
- Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Photo Opportunity (Mickey’s Toontown)
- Sweethearts’ Nite Exclusive Food:
- Heart-shaped Ravioli,
- Chocolate Heart-shaped Beignets,
- Duo of Hearts,
- Strawberry & Chocolate Churro,
- Passion Fruit-Strawberry Lemonade, and
- Strawberry Shortcake DOLE Whip Sundae
- Celebrate Love Cavalcade
- Fond Farewell
- Key of Disneyland Interactive Experiences (At least 5 Key Lock Stations)
Secondary Goals (If Time Allowed)
- Any other Sweethearts’ Nite Exclusive Food
- Entertainment
- Once Upon a Dream – A musical look at love and romance in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle
- Lou-Ray Jazz Club
- Step into the Scene Photo Opportunities
- Bayou Country’s Princess and the Frog Storybook
- Main Street, USA’s Sweethearts’ Nite Welcome
- Fantasyland’s Aristocats
What I Intentionally Deprioritized
- Merchandise
- Disney Duets/Dance Party/DJ
- More than one PhotoPass Character Photo Opportunities
- Rides
My Overall Game Plan
- 8:00 AM: Mobile Order Food
- 6:15 PM: Enter Disneyland Park
- 6:15 PM – 7:45 PM: Rides and Key to Disneyland Lock Stations
- 8:00 PM Enter Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Photo Queue (if forming) & Cafe Daisy Mobile Order
- 9:30 PM First Cavalcade Opportunity (if done with Mickey and Minnie)
- 9:45 PM Pictures of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle Projections
- 10:00 PM Tiana’s Palace Mobile Order
- 10:40 PM River Belle Terrace Dining Reservation
- 11:45 PM Second Cavalcade Opportunity (if first was missed) or Once Upon a Dream
- 12:45 PM Fond Farewell
Why this felt realistic to me:
Since I have party experience from Walt Disney World, I knew my Sweethearts’ Nite priorities were clear. However, I still had back up options in case things went left. On paper, nothing about my plan seemed unmanageable.

How the Night Actually Unfolded
Now here’s how it really played out.

- 7:35 PM: Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride (Less than 5 minute wait)
- 7:45 PM: Snow White’s Enchanted Wish (Less than 3 minute wait)
- 8:00 PM: Mickey’s Toontown Key to Disneyland Lock Station
- 8:05 PM: Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Photo Opportunity Queue & Cafe Daisy Mobile Order Pick Up
- 9:20 PM: Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Photos
- 9:25 PM: Mickey and Minnie’s Runway Railroad (Walk On)
- 9:45 PM: It’s a Small World Projections

- 01:25 PM: Entered line for Step into the Scene: Sweethearts’ Nite Welcome
- 01:35 PM: Step into the Scene: Sweethearts’ Nite Welcome (PhotoPass was gone, but a lovely couple took photos of so many people. We appreciated them pixie dusting us.)
- 01:40 PM: Departed Disneyland Park
Where the Gap Really Was
This really wasn’t a failed plan. It was a timing reality check because I still wanted to do more..
Here’s what limited us:
- Event length vs. the number of activities
- Walking time between experiences
If I’m honest, what I underestimated most was:
The need to sit down. While Disneyland is a smaller park, we were really thankful for the 10:40 PM River Belle Terrace reservation. It forced us to sit down. We walked nearly 18,000 steps that day with 14,000 steps during the party.
What Went Exactly According to Plan
We achieved all top priorities:
- Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse Photo Opportunity (Mickey’s Toontown)
- Sweethearts’ Nite Exclusive Food:
- Heart-shaped Ravioli,
- Chocolate Heart-shaped Beignets,
- Duo of Hearts,
- Strawberry & Chocolate Churro,
- Passion Fruit-Strawberry Lemonade, and
- Strawberry Shortcake DOLE Whip Sundae
- Celebrate Love Cavalcade
- Fond Farewell
We achieved one additional entertainment item: Due to the Castle Churro Cart line, we caught part of the Once Upon a Dream entertainment. It was truly a side view, but we got to see part of this show.
We did the Main Street, USA’s Sweethearts’ Nite Welcome Step into the Scene Photo Opportunity. This was after the night technically ended. But, Cast Members allowed everyone in line to take their photo with this opportunity. We were near the end of the line, but it took no longer than 10 minutes to finish.
These parts validated that my strategy wasn’t wrong. I was just ambitious for the entertainment and photo opportunities portions.
What I Wish I’d Had More Time For
More food and photo opportunities. I don’t regret what we did, but I wish I could have had one extra hour!
If I could redo one choice, I would:
Not redo any choices. I just wish I had more time.
My Adjusted Sweethearts’ Nite Plan (Version 2.0)
If I were going again,
- No Key to Disneyland: Since we completed it, I would not have to do the Key to Disneyland experience (We finished over two days):
- New Foods: All the foods were great (My Food Review Post Coming Soon). But, since I couldn’t do it all, I would focus on new things I didn’t get to try this time.
- 5 More Minutes: I would spend more time at the Latin and Pop Music DJ entertainment spot we were literally walking through from Toontown towards New Orleans Square, but the DJ was really good so I would want to spend an extra 5 minutes there.
And I’d mentally accept that:
Just like Walt Disney World special events, I still can’t do it all.
The Real Lesson: Sweethearts’ Nite Is About Choosing
The biggest takeaway?
You can plan well.
You can prioritize smartly.
You can move efficiently.
And still not do everything.
Sweethearts’ Nite isn’t about perfect execution. It’s about intentional choices with someone you love.
And next time, I’ll choose even more strategically…
Get on the list and be the first to receive curated information for the adult woman who wants magic without the mayhem.

Disneyland After Dark: Sweethearts’ Nite — A Walt Disney World Girl’s First Impressions

I’ve done Walt Disney World (WDW) parties before. I have a masters in Disneyland from YouTube University videos and I even had a paper itinerary.
So, walking into Disneyland After Dark: Sweethearts’ Nite, I thought I knew what I was doing. Until, I still didn’t have time to do it all…
This post is for anyone heading to Sweethearts’ Nite, especially if you are a Walt Disney World girlie living in Disneyland’s Sweethearts’ Nite for the first time.
Why I’m Writing This as a non-Annual Passholder Walt Disney World Girl
After watching a lot of Instagram and YouTube videos, most Sweethearts’ Nite content you’ll find is prepared by people who already understand how Disneyland events flow or influencers who make everything look effortless.
That wasn’t me. This was my third time to Disneyland and I am not a Magic Key/Annual Passholder. So, in my research phase, I became quite overwhelmed very quickly.
If you are a first-timer, out-of-state visitor, or a WDW fan taking your efforts out West, this post is meant to help you set realistic expectations.
The Basics
For 2026, Disneyland Sweetheart Nite started at $159 per guest. Similar to Walt Disney World’s Mickey’s Not So Scarry Halloween Party, the Disneyland After Dark dates did sell out quickly.
The event is from 9PM – 1PM, and you are able to enter the park at 6PM. I do recommend arriving at 6PM because the pre-party opportunities to ride rides or eat party food between 8PM – 9PM.
What Sweethearts Nite Actually Felt Like
Disneyland Park is more compact than Magic Kingdom. But, I was happily surprised I didn’t feel the large daytime crowd after dark.
The vibe was genuinely fun. While it was date night for many, my date was my sister and we had a blast.
Since this event takes place in January & February, it was a little chillier than my Orlando experiences at night. I would recommend to definitely layer, but don’t layer too much (I was indeed layered too much).
Ultimately, from coast to coast, if you enter a Disney Parks special ticketed event, you must go in with a plan yet be willing to go with the flow. Not going in with a plan would just be devastating.
Mobile Ordering is Not the Same Game
Unlike WDW, I truly appreciated being able to mobile order around 8AM the day of the party. I knew I wanted the Heart-shaped Ravioli from Cafe Daisy and the Chocolate Heart-shaped Beignets with Strawberry Dipping Sauce from Tiana’s Palace. I was able to schedule the times that ended up working best for where we were in the park.
Dining Experiences
Through my research, I saw several people say to skip the Sweethearts’ Nite Dining Experiences. I understand why (It takes up valuable time!). I still would recommend if you are interested in trying the desserts at Blue Bayou, Carnation Cafe, or River Belle Terrace (2026).
My sister and I had reservations at the River Belle Terrace for 10:40PM because I wanted to try the Special Offering – Duo of Hearts. River Belle Terrace also had a Sweethearts’ Nite Special Offerings of New York Steak & Crab Cake. And, the timing of having a pro-longed sitting down session came at a great time for my sister and I.
Who Sweethearts’ Nite Is (and Is Not) For
This event is great for
- Those who love themed food and photo ops.
- Those who enjoy exclusive entertainment.
- My probably “unpopular opinion”: Those who may just want to ride the rides without the daytime crowds.
This event may be frustrating for
- Those who can’t accept that you won’t do everything.
- First timers without a “loose” plan.
What This Series Will Cover
This post is just the beginning. I will be sharing:
- My planned itinerary vs. what actually happened.
- Everything I ate and how important mobile ordering is.
- My fashion choices and navigating the weather.
If you’re planning your own Sweethearts’ Nite, my goal is simple: help you feel prepared, not pressured.
Because Disneyland After Dark is magical, but only if you know how to approach it.

Track 3: Wine & Dine 5K Race (What You Should Know)
If you’re gearing up to run the runDisney Wine & Dine 5K, here’s a compact guide (from a fellow runDisney racer) to help you make the most of it.
Before the Race
- Get there early
Arriving early gives you breathing room to check bibs, use restrooms, and find your corrals without rushing. If you plan to drive to the race, parking is free. However, there is a 10-15 minute walk to the corrals. - Maximize character meet-and-greets
One of the magic parts of any Disney race is the characters. Be sure to hit them before the race (if your schedule allows) or right after crossing the finish line. Lines tend to swell, so plan accordingly. - Strategize your costume / layers
Nights in Florida can be warm, but early mornings may feel cool. If you run in costume or layers, bring a throwaway item you can shed. Pick something easy to remove zippers, Velcro, etc.. In 2023, the morning was cold, and I was unprepared. However, in 2024, the morning was warm, and was too prepared for the cold. - Plan for the course pace
Even though the 5K is untimed and more relaxed than the half or 10K, you’ll still want to stay mindful of your time.
During & After the Race
- Stay aware of photo ops but keep moving. Character stops are fun but can slow you down if you linger too long. Since I am a slow racer, I typically take a video or photo from far away to be mindful of my time.
- Immediately after finishing, head to character lines or back toward the runner staging areas — many stops stay open for a while for finishers.
- Hydrate and refuel quickly — snack boxes and water are available post-race but they can run low if too many runners land at once.
My 2024 Timestamps
- 3:30 AM – Arrived at EPCOT Parking (Free Parking)
- 3:50 AM – Started Walking to Corrals
- 4:00 AM – Took Picture in Front of Spaceship Earth
- 4:15 AM – Arrived at Corral
- 5:45 AM – Started Race
- 7:05 AM – Finished Race
- 7:10 AM – Got in Character Photo Lines
- 7:45 AM – Returned to Car
