It’s December 31st. Well, not quite yet, but if you itemize deductions on your tax return, the 2021 tax donation deadline is near…
Please consider giving to any eligible charitable organization. For example, this year, a friend donated to the Chron’s and Colitis Association on my behalf. This donation is an honor considering my #IBD Warrior journey this year.

However, this post is aimed at supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) this December 31st.
So, have you donated to your favorite HBCU? There are many ways to donate to the HBCUs:
- First, donate directly to the University.
- Second, donate to the alumni association.
- Third, if you are an alum, join the Alumni Association.
- Fourth, donate to the UNCF.
- Lastly, do all four and repeat…
HBCUs have contributed so much to society. So, let’s give back to ensure the continued legacy.
My favorite HBCU to donate to is Dillard University! This year, I was honored to receive two awards to recognize my work as a “youngish” alumnae. I received the 2021 Dillard University Outstanding Young Alumni Award AND the Dillard University National Alumni Association Special President’s Leadership Award from the 29th National President.
Over the last 7 years, I held leadership positions in the alumni association to support the continued excellence and heritage of Dillard University. During these 7 years, I aided in approximately $50,000 in donations to Dillard University. While it has not always been easy, I have appreciated the lessons learned and the impact to the students.
So, if you are looking to donate some where this December 31st, donate to Dillard University. Click here to donate.
